This abandoned and derelict plywood houseboat has washed up on at Blakesley’s Anchorage on the western side of North Stradbroke Island south of Dunwich, January 17. The Vessel is impacting significantly on the marine ecology due to the hull and superstructure breaking up. Beach is strewn with fractured timber and debris, with most serious degradation occurring is large chunks of foam are breaking down and hundreds of small pieces are covering the high water mark.
Hull fragments are also accumulating on the beach from on board and the remaining structure will continue to separate and disperse along the surrounding Mangrove enclaves if not removed.
